Smart Ways to Beat the Heat

!±8± Smart Ways to Beat the Heat

The weather can be an endless source of fascination. There are some days where the temperature is moderate and everything is wonderful, but for much of the year it is usually either too hot or too cold for us to be truly comfortable. Throwing on more clothes and turning up the heat can help cold days. Hot days are trickier because there is a limit to how many clothes you can take off. Fortunately, there are some simple steps you can take to stay cool.

The obvious way to cool off is by turning on the air conditioner. The downside of air conditioning is that the constant use of your phoenix air conditioner can get expensive after a while. Start by figuring out the warmest you can set you air conditioner and still be comfortable. You might be just as comfortable at seventy-five degrees as at sixty-five degrees and your air conditioner will run less. A programmable thermostat is a great investment. Your cooling system can be set to automatically adjust based on time of day. Your home can be kept warmer while you are out and be back at a comfortable temperature by the time you get home from work each day. Add ceiling fans to your home. They help keep the air circulating so your home feels cooler.

Another way to keep cool is to limit your use of appliances. Dishwashers, ovens, and dryers all generate heat that warms their surroundings. Everyone running their appliances and geothermal systems during the middle hours of the day also puts a strain on the electrical grid that can lead to brown outs. Do your laundry or run your dishwasher early in the day or late at night when outside temperatures are lower. Hang your clothes to dry instead of putting them through the dryer. You can put them right onto their hangers to dry and from there straight into your closet. Your clothes will last longer, too. Do your cooking outside on the gill so your house does not heat up. Experiment with new recipes that require little or no cooking time. Summer provides ample opportunity to eat fresh fruits and vegetables that need little preparation.

Many hot countries shut down in the middle of the day for a siesta. Most of us cannot drop everything mid-afternoon because it is hot, but you can schedule your activities to avoid the hottest part of the day. If you like outside exercise, try to do it early in the day. You might join a gym where air conditioner AZ lets you work up a sweat without getting overheated. Make sure to drink a lot of liquids. Your body cools itself through sweating and you need to keep from getting dehydrated. Plan any driving you have to do ahead of time. If you arrange to do all your errands together, you will spend less time driving and will not have to be constantly re-cooling your car between long stops.
